Printing with the Sun: Cyanotype Workshop and Book Launch
Join community gardener and artist Madge Evers for a beginner-friendly art workshop and book launch of Madge’s book, “Printing with the Sun.”
At 4:00 pm, Madge will host a fun, creative, and beginner-friendly workshop on Botanical Cyanotypes, a magical, simple, camera-less technique that results in graphic blue and white prints. Participants will be introduced to the process developed in 1842 and will use plants to create a photographic image, called a photogram. Each student will have the opportunity to make up to two or three prints to take home. All materials, including pressed plant material, will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own pressed plants to use in their compositions.
At 6:00 pm, we will honor Madge’s book, all about cyanotypes and featuring Madge’s work alongside other local artists’ work! All are welcome (no registration needed) for the 6 pm book launch celebration.
Cyanotype for Beginners

No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own pressed plants or other objects to incorporate into their designs.
☀️ Proceeds from this workshop help support free and low-cost programs at Make-It Springfield, expanding access to creative learning opportunities throughout our community.
