Carry a Torch depicts fennel/Foeniculum vulgare, an herb historically believed to impart strength, courage, and clarity. Prometheus carried the sun’s fire to earth on a giant a stalk of fennel. Made with the bioluminescent spores of Jack O’ Lantern mushrooms plus other mushroom species. Part of the New Herbarium series, my interpretation of the practice of preserving and presenting plants. Inspiration for this series came from Emily Dickinson’s Herbarium.
About this limited edition print: I’ve adapted the mushroom spore print process to create works on paper with actual mushroom spores. I photograph each spore print and offer inkjet prints in limited editions from the photograph. If you’re interested in acquiring an original mushroom spore print, please contact me.
